In the waste and stormwater management industry, the terms "coagulation" and "flocculation" are frequently encountered given their ability to aid sedimentation. However, the long list of coagulant options poses a challenge in selecting the most suitable one for specific projects. The aim of this presentation will be to summarize the mechanism of coagulation, increase the understanding of available options, and shed light on emerging technologies. With a focus on applications towards sediment control on British Columbia, this session will leave attendees with a basic understand of what’s available in the coagulation space and tools to help implement a sedimentation program.
