Industry NewsJanuary 2024 - New ESC Professional Practice Guidelines
ESCA BC is happy to share a set of guidelines for ESC plan designers, and we encourage all ESC professionals to review them.
The Professional Practice Guidelines – Erosion and Sediment Control were jointly created by College of Applied Biologists (CAB), BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA), and Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). While these guidelines are not regulations from a government ministry, they describe mandated professional practice requirements adopted by five professional regulatory bodies named under the Professional Governance Act (PGA). ESCA BC is not a regulatory body under the PGA, but we support the use of these guidelines by all ESC practitioners, including site personnel, site inspectors, plan designers, and plan reviewers.
All ESC professionals should continually expand their knowledge and improve their practices around erosion and sediment control. For this reason, we strongly encourage all ESC practitioners to review these guidelines and adopt best practices that apply to their sectors and site conditions.
