BC-CESCL (British Columbia Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead) recertification course is for ESC professionals with a CESCL certificate that has expired or will expire within 6-12 months. The one-day course and exam revisits the topics and issues covered in the two-day CESCL course, including erosion and sedimentation processes, regulatory requirements, erosion and sediment control plans, best management practices, inspections, and record-keeping. NOTE: THIS IS AN ONLINE COURSE.

NOTE: Each ESCA BC member must sign into their own online individual profile to register for the course at the discounted rate. Corporate membership does not qualify for this discount.

 

 

The BC-CESCL recertification course will review topics connected to the following:

  • Erosion and Sedimentation Impacts
  • Erosion and Sedimentation Processes
  • Factors that Influence Erosion
  • Canadian Rules and Regulations
  • Construction Site Inspections
  • Introduction to Stormwater Planning
  • Introduction to Erosion Control Measures
  • Introduction to Sediment Control Measures
  • Site Housekeeping and Management

 

The one-day course provides some time for questions and clarification, and there is an exam in the afternoon. Participants must achieve a minimum passing grade in order to receive their renewed CESCL certificate, which will be valid for another three years.

 

There will be time for offline coffee and lunch breaks. Please review the format and technical requirements outlined below.

 

Online Format

The online BC CESCL recertification course is a live webinar that requires conversation with the instructor and other participants. Just like the in-person BC CESCL course, participants must attend all day and successfully complete the online exam. To optimize audio and video quality, participants will connect to the live webinar with audio but not with video.

 

Tentative Schedule

8:30am to 10:30am                Online live presentation and discussions

10:30am to 11:00am              BREAK (offline, with online chat rooms enable for networking)

11:00am to 12:00pm              Online live presentation and discussions

12:00pm to 1:00pm                LUNCH (offline, with online chat rooms enable for networking)

1:00pm to 3:00pm                  Online live presentation, discussions, and review

3:00pm – 4:00pm                   Online exam

4:00pm to 4:30pm                  Online exam review and final administrative notes

 

 

Technical Requirements

Device:            computer, laptop or tablet

Accessories:    headphones (recommended for optimum sound and video quality)

microphone (if not built into device)

NB: A webcam is NOT needed for the online BC CESCL.

Internet:          high speed internet, capable of live streaming video

(ideally 5+ megabytes per second; minimum 3 megabytes per second)

Exam Requirement

There is an exam in the afternoon. Participants must achieve a minimum passing score to receive the BC CESCL certificate. Please note, CESCL cards are valid for three years from the course completion date. Participants will require a device and internet connection for the exam (a phone is fine). No webcam, headphones or microphone is required for the exam.
