By becoming a member of the ESCA BC you are an accredited practitioner with education in the sediment and erosion field. This accreditation is intended to ensure registrants meet the Federal requirements including the US Environmental Protection Agency's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System definition of “Qualified Personnel” and also meet the requirements of State and Local regulations that require qualified personnel.

To keep your ESCA membership in good standing you are required to renew your ESCA BC membership annually and agree and adhere to our code of ethics.

Membership Mission

To provide an inspector certification program for individuals that:

  • Demonstrate the necessary skills to observe onsite and offsite conditions that impact the quality of storm water discharges from active construction sites,
  • Demonstrate the ability to inspect installed best management practices and their ongoing maintenance to determine if the mitigation measures will minimize the discharge of sediment and other pollutants from active construction sites,
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and report on their inspection of active construction sites as to whether storm water management compliance issues associated with water quality may exist with federal, state and/or local discharge permit regulations

Accredited Practitioners

ESCA BC recognizes that there are a wide range of professionals practicing ESC throughout BC.  Engineers, Technologists, Biologists, Technicians, Environmental Professionals, Agrologists, etc.  We acknowledge that our professional accreditation does not imply we have any specialized training in erosion & sediment control.  Rather, becoming an accredited member advocates that you are increasing your awareness to minimizing the impacts of erosion and sediment control measures. We wish to promote a higher level of training, education, and expertise. As such, we wish to recognize the wide range of professionals throughout BC who have taken their training and development to a higher level.
